$370 million funding agreement between the World Bank and Pakistan

World Bank & Pakistan Joined Together Again

An agreement worth $371 million was signed between the World Bank and the Ministry of Economic Affairs for two projects.


According to the media, the World Bank will provide $ 371 million to Pakistan for social development programs and the agricultural sector. An agreement was signed between the World Bank and the Ministry of Economic Affairs for these two projects.

The signing ceremony was held at the office of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Khusro Bahtiyar, who attended the ceremony, thanked the World Bank for its social development program and funding in the agricultural sector.


Under the World Bank project, the total cost of the irrigation system in KP will be ڈالر 171 million. The project will cover all the districts of KP. The World Bank will contribute Rs. 200 million to the Punjab Government’s social program at a total cost of 3 330 million. The social development plan includes primary health, education and conditional cash transfer programs. The social development program will cover 11 districts of Punjab including 8 districts of South Punjab.


On the occasion, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Khusroor Bakhtiar said that eradication of poverty and development of backward areas is our top priority and the government of Pakistan is serious in developing the health and education sectors.

The World Bank representative said that partners in Pakistan’s socio-economic development would continue.
