A moderate heat wave will start in the city from today, Meteorological Department said.

Heat Wave Has Been Arrieved in Sindh

Mild heatwave in Karachi will begin in the city from today and sea breezes will be suspended during the day while hot desert winds of Balochistan are likely to blow.

The Meteorological Department had forecast mild heatwave in the city from May 17 to 22 as a result of the recent western rains in the country. In which a slight change was made after the latest situation yesterday, according to the new forecast, moderate heatwave may continue between today and May 22. During the day, the south-westerly winds of the sea are likely to be interrupted, while hot north-westerly desert winds from the alternative direction of Balochistan may enter the city.

According to the Meteorological Department, the mercury in the city could rise to 40 degrees today and 41 degrees on Tuesday. According to Chief Meteorologist Karachi Sardar Sarfraz, sea breezes are likely to resume by evening. While the humidity is expected to be more balanced, which could lead to milder heatwaves and less chance of extreme heat, citizens are likely to avoid to go out from their homes unnecessarily between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.


According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature of the city was recorded at 35.5 degrees on Sunday while the minimum temperature was recorded at 27.5 degrees in the morning. The humidity was 75 percent in the morning and 59 percent in the evening.
