Ban on the use of polythene bags across Punjab

The Lahore High Court has banned the use of polythene bags across Punjab and ordered the Environment Department to implement the court order.Justice Shahid Karim of the Lahore High Court heard the petition of Haroon Farooq in which it was pointed out that Putheen bags are the cause of environmental pollution and therefore it should be banned. Thanbags presented a report on every ban and every implementation. A report was also presented in the court by the lawyer of the Environment Commission 

The court, after hearing the views of the lawyers, directed that the use of polythene bags in shopping malls and department stores across Punjab be stopped and the ban on polythene bags be strictly enforced.It may be recalled that Prime Minister Imran Khan is also very sensitive about climate change. In an interview, he had said that he would raise the issue of Kashmir and climate change in the UN General Assembly. He said that climate change is currently the biggest in the world. There is a challenge. That is why the Prime Minister has started the Billion Tree project.
