‘Bhasha Dam will be completed by 2028 30%, expense will be provided by the government’.
The chairman of Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has said that the government will provide 30% amount for the construction of Diamer Bhasha Dam and the project will be completed by 2028.
In a statement, WAPDA Chairman Muzammil Hussain said that Pakistan’s energy and food security is linked with water, India is making the water situation in Pakistan worse.
Chairman WAPDA said that Pakistan’s energy and food security is linked with water and at present Pakistan is able to store only 10% of its water needs, therefore, with the help of Diamer Bhasha and other projects, water storage facilities will be doubled.

Chairman WAPDA said that WAPDA is generating 9,400 MW of hydropower and will increase it to 14,000 MW.
He said that a total of Rs. 1400 billion would be spent for Diamer-Bhashapan power out of which 30% would be funded by the government while the rest would be obtained from other sources including bonds.
