Crops have been severely affected by locust heart attacks in different parts of the country

Locust attack in Pakistan

In different parts of the country, locusts attacked and destroyed mango, tomato, cotton, sugarcane, sunflower and vegetable crops.

Locust infestation continues in Bahawalnagar and Rajanpur districts of Punjab, which has damaged cotton, groundnut, tomato, sunflower, vegetable and mango orchards.

Deputy Commissioner Rajanpur said that the operation for eradication of locust heart is going on uninterruptedly and spraying is being done.

In Matiari district of Sindh, locusts in Hala, New Saeedabad and Bhatshah districts of Sindh have been severely affected by the attack on cotton, onion, banana, sugarcane, grass and vegetable crops.

Farmers are trying to repel the locusts with their help, while the Resettlement Board has demanded the government to take immediate steps to control the locusts and spray the affected areas.

In Balochistan, Noshki district has also been severely affected by locust infestation. According to the Zamindar Action Committee, locust infestation has affected cotton, onion and tomato crops.
