The steering committee of Sindh Education Department has decided not to close educational institutions in the province.

A meeting of the steering committee of the education department was held under the chairmanship of Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani in which secretaries of schools, secretarial colleges and chairmen of education boards participated.

The steering committee decided not to close the educational institutions in the meeting. It was also decided in the meeting that the educational institutions which want to go for online education can go.

Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani said that the purpose of today’s meeting was to decide the position of Sindh in consultation with the stakeholders. He wanted decisions to be taken in consultation with the stakeholders regarding education in Sindh.

He said that the steering committee has decided that there will be no winter holidays in Sindh and SOPs in educational institutions will be strictly enforced.

He further said that there is no doubt that the number of cases of code is increasing. If we look at the statistics of the last few days, the rate of positive cases has gone up to 3.7 percent.

Saeed Ghani said that the federation was asking for winter holidays from December 25 to January 10. The meeting also consulted on the recommendations of the NCOC.

He said that the federation was of the view that children should be educated at home instead of going to school from November 25 to December 24. The federation was of the view that parents should go to schools and take weekly homework from the teachers.

The Sindh Education Minister said that the decisions of the steering committee will be communicated to the NCOC, and then whatever decision will be taken in the NCOC meeting, the final decision will be taken after consultation with the Sindh Chief Minister and Sindh Health Minister.
