Under the project, 1800 feeder schools will be set up where 90,000 illiterate people under the age of 16 will be educated while 3600 Adult Literacy Centers will be set up across Punjab to provide basic education to the illiterate over the age of 16. This year, the project will cost Rs 254.1 million, which has been approved. So far, 154,000 illiterate people have been imparted basic education in phase one of the project. On the other hand, the P&D department has also objected to the purchase of 112 Android phones and two vehicles requested by the Literacy Department for monitoring the project and said that the existing phones and vehicles should be used for monitoring.
