Students who are still in ninth and eleventh class will not take the board exam this year, Shafqat Mahmood said.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mehmood has said that those going to ninth to tenth and eleventh to twelfth classes across the country will not have to give combine papers, they will give only 10th and 12th exams next year.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Shafqat Mehmood said that the National Coordinating Committee had decided to keep all educational institutions closed till July 15 and it was announced that ninth, tenth and intermediate examinations would not be held.

He said that all the provincial education ministers met today and basic decisions were taken. 4 million children were to appear for the ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth examinations. The formula was to keep in mind the health of the children so that the year would not be wasted.

The Federal Minister for Education said that important decisions have been taken today according to which the ninth and eleventh examinations will not be held. Those who have ninth and eleventh results have been promoted to tenth and twelfth class.

He said that only those who are promoted in 10th and 12th will take 10th and 12th exams. The review has shown that the result of 10th is better than 9th.

Students in 4 categories can take the exam between September and November

Shafqat Mahmood said that students of 4 categories can be tested between September and November.

He said that in one category there will be students who are not happy with the marks of 11th and wanted to improve in 12th class, in the second category there are students who were going to take exams combined this year, in the third category there are students who wanted to test for improvement in subjects and in the fourth category are students who have failed in more than 40% of subjects.

Students who are dissatisfied with the results of the 11th can take the special exam in September, November. Those who were taking the composite exam and did not get the result of the 11th can take the exam in September, November.

He said that students who have passed in only a few subjects can also appear for the examination in September and November, while those who failed in more than 40 per cent of the subjects can also appear for the examination in September and November.

The Education Minister said that the students aspiring for the special examination should inform their respective boards by July 1.
