Important news for matriculation students, the health department has given permission for marking of matriculation papers, 20 point SOPs have been agreed for marking.
According to sources, the higher education department and the health department have agreed to mark the matriculation exams. However, 20-point SOPs must be implemented, including a distance of 6 feet between paper checkers, provision of hand washing water, soap and sanitizers at examination centers and other safety measures.
Marking will start from the first week of June in 156 centers across Punjab, including Lahore, and the results will be released in early September. ۔This year around 2.5 lakh students participated in the matriculation examination and about 300,000 in the ninth standard.
On the other hand, the provincial education minister Murad Rass elaborated on some of the points under discussion regarding the board examinations. Students who pass 11th class will be given 3% extra marks and will pass 12th class. Students who fail completely in Interpart One will also be considered as fail in Part Two.
It may be recalled that the Punjab government has announced cancellation of Class IX and Intermediate examinations this year, which will benefit 4 million students, but sources said that the examinations should be canceled and students should be promoted to the next class without examination. The notification has no legal status, as there is no provision in the law to promote without examinations.
It is to be noted that Corona virus is spreading rapidly all over Punjab including Lahore. There are 7980 confirmed cases of Corona in Lahore. 16 thousand 685 people have been infected with Corona virus in Punjab. Schools, colleges and universities across Punjab, including Lahore, have been closed since March 16 due to the corona virus.
