The Uttar Pradesh government has enacted a law against ‘Lo Jihad’ which makes it illegal to change religion in the name of marriage.

According to state government spokesman Siddharth Nath Singh, the cabinet yesterday approved an anti-conversion, anti-marriage law, which makes conversion illegal in the name of marriage illegal.

According to the law passed, the punishment for conversion en masse is 3 to 10 years, while a fine of Rs 15,000 to Rs 50,000 has to be paid.

The proposals state that any religious leader will need permission from the DM before converting, and that anyone who converts under the law will have to seek permission from the district officer, if anyone converts en masse. He will have to pay 10 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000.

It should be noted that in connection with jihad, Hindu organizations have accused Muslim boys of luring Hindu girls into their love affairs under an international conspiracy and then converting them to Islam. They get married while these marriages are called Lo Jihad by Hindu organizations.

It may be recalled that a few days back, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had announced legislation against the alleged ‘Lo Jihad’.
