Is there any threat to Pakistan from the hurricane ‘Amphan’ in the Bay of Bengal?
Meteorological Department says hurricane ‘Amphan’ in Bay of Bengal poses no threat to Pakistan’s coastal areas.
According to the Meteorological Department, the storm in the Bay of Bengal is 2600 km away from Karachi, which does not pose a threat to the coastal areas of Sindh and Balochistan.
The department said that the typhoon could hit any coast of India or Bangladesh and it is likely that the storm will reach near the Indian coastal areas of Kolkata and Orissa.
Referring to Karachi, the Meteorological Department said that the storm could affect Karachi in the form of hot winds, however, the heatwave that started in the city from tomorrow is not related to the Bay of Bengal storm.

The Department has forecast a maximum temperature of 40 degrees in Karachi tomorrow and said that sea breezes will remain suspended on Monday afternoon and hot winds from Balochistan will enter Karachi.
According to the Meteorological Department, the mild heatwave in Karachi may continue till May 22, during which the temperature in Karachi may go up to 41 to 42 degrees.
