Locust attack in Karachi again, crops threatened

Locust have once again attacked the Gadap area of Karachi

Locusts have once again attacked the Gadap area of ​​Karachi, threatening to destroy standing crops on several acres.

On Sunday evening, locusts entered different areas of Karachi. In Gadap, locusts also attacked crops and houses, leaving residents and farmers distraught.

Concerned farmers have demanded the government to spray the crops as soon as possible or the crops will be destroyed.

On the other hand, a spokesman for the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said that a total of 51 districts across the country have been affected by the locust attack, including 27 in Balochistan, nine in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 13 in Punjab and two in Sindh.

According to NDMA, survey and spray operation is underway in the locust affected areas, In Balochistan, 6,690 hectares have been sprayed in the last 24 hours, while in Punjab, 75,000 hectares have been surveyed and 2,000 hectares have been sprayed.

An NDMA spokesman said about 71,000 hectares of land in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had been surveyed and 492 hectares had been sprayed, while in Sindh, 150,000 hectares have been surveyed and 28 hectares have been sprayed.
