After a thrilling contest in the first qualifier of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 5, Karachi Kings defeated Multan Sultans in the Super Over and made it to the final.

In the super over, Karachi Kings gave Multan Sultans a target of 14 runs to win but Multan team scored only 9 runs and Karachi won the match by 4 runs.

Earlier, in the first qualifier match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) play-offs, Karachi Kings won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Multan scored 141 runs in the allotted overs while playing first and Karachi got a target of 142 runs to win. In reply Karachi Kings also scored 141 runs for the loss of 8 wickets after which the match was decided in the super over.

Babar Azam was the top scorer for Karachi Kings with 65 runs. Sohail Tanveer bowled 3 wickets.

The winner of today’s qualifier has reached the final, while the loser will have another chance to reach the final.

Today, the losing team will face the winner of the match between Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi in Eliminator One.

In the match played at the National Stadium in Karachi, Multan Sultans scored 141 runs for 7 wickets in the stipulated overs, Ravi Bopara scored 40 runs, Zeeshan Ashraf scored 21 runs and Khushdal Shah scored 17 runs.

Shahid Afridi (12) and Adam Light (9) were all out, Riley Rousseau and Mohammad Ilyas (5.5) and Shaun Masood (3)

Sohail Tanveer remained unbeaten on 25 runs. Waqas Maqsood and Arshad Iqbal of Karachi Kings bowled two wickets each. Emad Waseem took one wicket.

It may be recalled that the last phase of PSL was postponed in March due to the global corona virus epidemic which is now being completed at the National Stadium Karachi without spectators.

The last match of PSL 5 was played seven months ago on March 15 between Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators in which Quetta won by 5 wickets.

Foreign players participating in the playoffs have been placed in a biosecure bubble and are not allowed to meet anyone other than the players.
