Ordered to open shopping centers in the context of Eid, will be reviewed after Eid: Chief Justice

ISLAMABAD: In the Corona virus suo motu notice case, the Chief Justice of Pakistan remarked that the order to open the shopping center on Saturday and Sunday was in the context of Eid and after Eid, we will review the situation and hold a hearing.

A five-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan is hearing the Corona Self Notice case in the Supreme Court, in this regard, Chairman NDMA, Attani General and Advocate General Sindh appeared in the court.

During the hearing, the Chief Justice of Pakistan remarked that our concern was not with the expenditure but with the quality of services, the test from the government lab of the suspected patient of Corona is positive and negative from the private one. The same happened with the employees of the Lahore Registry of the Supreme Court, employees’ corona test came positive from government lab and negative from private.

Justice Gulzar Ahmed remarked that there is a human resource to provide facilities to the people but it is not working well. When the patient reaches them, he gets stuck. Videos of people from Ahur Expo Center and Quarantine Centers in Islamabad are being seen, people are angrily saying die outside but don’t come to Pakistan, Ten people are sitting together in the quarantine center, what kind of quarantine is this? No cleanliness is being maintained in these quarantine centers.

Chief Justice of Pakistan said that not everything is money, do not play games for money, money is not important but people are important, the general impression is that the resources are in the hands of unrelated people.

The Hon’ble Chief Justice further said that our people are being treated worse than animals, all the resources of the government should be spent on the people, only 2% of the government resources should not be used for a certain class. NDMA is working in cities, not even in villages, all the quarantine centers are in cities only. Once a person reaches the quarantine center, he cannot return without paying, even if it is negative.

Chairman NDMA told the court that due to NDMA 10 PPE kits are being prepared, 1187 ventilators were ordered out of which 300 have reached Pakistan. PE Kit was not ordered in Pakistan.

On this, the Chief Justice said that the quality is not seen in the goods imported here, NDMA is importing all the goods from China from one party. You should make everything in your own country, prepare food items, medicines and other goods in your own country, you have spent crores of rupees but nothing seems to be happening.

Justice Gulzar Ahmed remarked that everything is being imported from China, in Pakistan cheap goods are being imported from China which are sold here for Rs 10 to Rs 1,000.

On this occasion, the Attorney General said that the people take the decisions of the Supreme Court very seriously. Due to the order of the court, the administration is facing difficulties in taking action. The court is requested to take into consideration the seriousness of the matter while giving remarks and decisions.

The Advocate General took a stand in the court that the lockdown was not as effective as before, beauty salons and barber shops were opening, on which the Chief Justice of Pakistan said that they were not opening because of us.

Your inspectors are taking money and giving permission. The court did not say anything to the Sindh government. The Sindh government has opened all government offices. You have opened the office of the sub-registrar which is an institution of big corruption.

The Chief Justice said that the order to open the shopping center on Saturday and Sunday was in the context of Eid.

The court later adjourned the hearing of the Corona suo motu notice case till June 8.
