The Prime Minister rejected the proposal to revive departmental cricket

Hopes for revival of institutional cricket in domestic cricket have been dashed. Patron of the PCB, Prime Minister Imran Khan has rejected the proposal to include institutions in the existing domestic structure.Hopes of a return to paid cricket were dashed. Even two former and one current captains of the national team could not persuade the Prime Minister to revive institutional cricket. According to sources, in a meeting held in Islamabad, former national team captain Misbah-ul-Haq, Muhammad Hafeez and current Test captain Azhar Ali briefed Prime Minister Imran Khan about the problems of cricketers for the restoration of institutional cricket. Al-Haq, Mohammad Hafeez and Azhar Ali also failed to tame the pattern.

According to sources, Patron Enchef rejected the proposal to revive institutional cricket and made it clear to Misbah-ul-Haq, Azhar Ali and Muhammad Hafeez that Pakistan cricket could move forward only under the existing system. The prospects for recovery are slim.
