The scholars rejected the proposal to make the perpetrators of rape impotent

After the motorway tragedy, the federal government decided to enact a law to punish the perpetrators of abuse. Ulema rejected the proposed punishments.In the wake of the tragic incident on the motorway, the government has decided to give the harshest punishments to the perpetrators of rape. Minister for Water Resources Faisal Wawda has started work on the draft of the bill. After the completion of the bill, he will present it in the National Assembly.

Dr. Ragheb Hussain Naeemi, the superintendent of Jamia Naeemia, while rejecting the law, said that there are Shariah punishments in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, there is no acceptable punishment which is not in the Qur’an and Hadith.Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, Khatib of Badshahi Mosque, has said that Islam has called for severe punishment for those who abuse women, therefore the culprits of the motorway tragedy should be brought to justice and punished severely.
