Transporters’ talks with Punjab government successful, announced to run buses

LAHORE: All Pakistan Public Transport Owners Federation has announced to restore transport after talks with the government.

Talks were held between the government and the Transport Federation at Transport House Lahore in which Provincial Minister for Industry Mian Aslam Iqbal, Minister for Transport Jahanzeb Kachchi and Secretary Transport participated.

Ahmed Shehzad, Ismatullah Niazi and Malik Nadeem participated on behalf of Transport Federation.

The government allowed passengers to be seated on each seat in the buses plying on GT Road. After negotiations with the government, the transporters consulted with each other and announced to run the buses.

In Punjab, with a 20% fare discount on GT Road, buses have been allowed to seat passengers on all seats, while on the motorway under the federal government, one passenger can be accommodated on two seats under SOP without discount.

The transporters said that the bus crew would enforce sanitizers and masks, but the passengers themselves came wearing masks.
