According to a State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) statement, for tax collection, some bank offices will remain open till 6 pm for extended business hours on Saturday and Sunday (29 and 30 April 2023).

State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has said in a press release that all branches of banks which are open on Saturday, including authorized branches of National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and field offices of SBP Banking Services Corporation (SBP-BSC). Open on 29 and 30 April 2023 (Saturday and Sunday), and observe extended working hours. This decision was taken on the request of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

He also stated that M/s. NIFT will establish a special clearing at 1:00 p.m. on April 29, 2023 (Saturday), and at 6:00 PM on April 30, 2023 (Sunday), to guarantee same-day clearing and settlement of payment instruments deposited at authorized branches of NBP for customs collection.

Consequently, all banks should maintain the opening hours of their clearing-related branches till April 29 and April 30, 2023, respectively, as required by NIFT to enable special clearing.

On the occasion of Labor Day, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has also declared a bank holiday on Monday, May 1, 2023. According to details, SBP and all commercial banks will remain closed on Monday.
