Belgium melted 22,000 rifles and pistols in the furnace
Brussels: Belgian law enforcement agencies melted thousands of pistols and rifles into a furnace and turned it into steel.In this regard, 22,000 rifles and other firearms were collected from all over the country. When it was melted in the furnace, 60 tons of crude steel was obtained. The owners have handed over the weapons to the police themselves and the majority had inherited them from their elders but they do not want to keep them anymore.
The governor of East Flanders, Karina Van Coutter, said in a statement that half of the weapons were police weapons that had become obsolete.”I am glad that our society has lost so many weapons, the total number of weapons is 22,457, it shows that our citizens will be safer and weapons will no longer be used,” she said.
