Box reference Nawaz Sharif challenges accountability court proceedings

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has challenged the summons in the accountability court in the Islamabad High Court.

Nawaz Sharif in his petition said that the order of accountability court proceedings and issuance of summons should be declared null and void, NAB is unjustifiably targeting me and my family.

The petition states that NAB wants to silence the voice by targeting the opposition. Nawaz Sharif is not a fugitive but has gone abroad on bail. He is undergoing treatment abroad so he should be allowed to face trial through his representative. The European Union and Human Rights Watch have also outlawed the NAB’s baseless actions.

It is to be noted that Nawaz Sharif’s arrest warrant and summons have been issued on August 17 for persistent absence in the Tosha Khana reference in which it is said that Nawaz Sharif is deliberately absconding from the court proceedings
