Change the procedure for admission of newly admitted and promoted students.

(Junaid Riaz) The School Education Department has directed the District Education Authorities across the province to register the promoted students on “SIS”.

According to details, the school education department directed the district education authorities across the province to register the promoted students on SIS. The letter said that students on SIS should be promoted to the next class on the school information system. The enrollment of new entrants in class I to XII will be done immediately online. All the authorities will update the data by the due date. Authorities have also issued orders to all school heads in their districts to update the data. Action will be taken against school heads for non-compliance with the orders.

It may be recalled that the federal government had approved Punjab’s recommendations regarding board examinations under which no ninth and intermediate examinations would be held this year, only 119,000 students in the special category would be examined. An inter-provincial meeting was held under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mehmood to take a unanimous decision regarding the board examinations.

The meeting approved the recommendations of Punjab, ninth grade students will be promoted to tenth grade, eleventh grade students will be promoted to twelfth, eleventh grade marks will be doubled and twelfth result will be prepared. From which 41 lakh students of the province will benefit. However, the proposal to take exams from 119,000 students in 3 special categories including supplementary and composite has been approved.
