While many sectors have been affected by the corona virus, plans to set up 1,000 IT labs and 400 science labs across the province, including Lahore, have stalled. Despite several deadlines, it is not possible to set up science and IT labs in schools. Hoska, the school education department, said the project could not be completed on time due to Corona.

According to the details, 1000 IT labs will be set up in 17 districts and 400 science labs will be set up in 10 districts, including 100 schools in Lahore. The project was to be completed by December 2020. Due to non-availability of funds, the project could not be completed on time.

Relevant district heads have been called for resumption of the project. CEOs, CEOs, focal persons and contractors will attend the meeting. The meeting will be held at PMIU office in Lahore. Funds will be estimated so that the project can be restarted soon.

Earlier, approval was given to set up science and IT labs in 64 government high schools in Lahore. The Education Authority Lahore had transferred funds of Rs 67.8 million to the accounts of school heads for setting up labs. And three to four lakh rupees were transferred per school for setting up i-labs.

According to sources, the absence of science and IT labs made it difficult for students to prepare for the practical exams. According to the Education Authority Lahore, the establishment of labs in high schools was promised to be completed by March, which now seems impossible.
