About the University of Liverpool

About National Tsing Hua University

National Tsing Hua University is a research university in Hsinchu City, Taiwan. The university was first founded in Beijing. After the Kuomintang retreated to Taiwan in 1949 following its defeat by the Communist Party of China in the Chinese Civil War, NTHU was re-established in Hsinchu City in 1956

Eligibility for Fully Funded Scholarships

Through UoL:

  • Have a 2:1 honors degree or above (or equivalent).
  • Includes basic knowledge of Dynamical systems, control techniques, design, and programming skills.
  • An interest in both theoretical and experimental systems is preferred.

Through NTHU:

  • The successful applicant should have obtained NTHU admission into the Ph.D. program in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and possess basic knowledge of dynamical systems, control techniques, design, and programming skills.
  • Aspirants who are interested in theoretical, numerical, and experimental work on the dynamic systems are highly encouraged to apply.

Value of Scholarship

  • UoL and NTHU will waive the tuition fees for the duration of the project.
  • A stipend of 11,000 TWD/month as a contribution to living costs when in NTHU.
  • A Stipend of GBP 1,000/month for the time spent at UoL.
  • This project is part of a 4-year Dual Ph.D. degree program between the National Tsing Hua University and the University of Liverpool.
