HBL Bank Introduction:

An international Pakistani bank with its main office in Karachi’s Habib Bank Plaza is called Habib Bank Limited (HBL). The Habib family established HBL in 1940, making it Pakistan’s first commercial bank. It established its first overseas location in Colombo, Sri Lanka, in 1951.

The Geneva, Switzerland-based Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development (AKFED) is owned in large part by HBL. The bank relocated its main office to Habib Bank Plaza, the tallest structure in South Asia, in 1972. The bank was nationalized by the government in 1974, and it was privatized in 2003.

HBL currently has more than 1700 branches distributed across 25 countries and four continents. It has consistently been recognized as the top Pakistani company in the Forbes Global 2000 and is the largest corporation in Pakistan in terms of assets. With more than 1,700 branches, it is also Pakistan’s biggest commercial bank. HBL will have 20,795 permanent employees as of 2020.
