Nine people drowned when a boat capsized in Lake Kanjhar
KARACHI: A boat full of tourists capsized in Kenjhar Lake in Thatta, Sindh, as a result of which 9 people drowned and 3 others are in critical condition.
Among those killed in the sinking were 21-year-old Urooj’s daughter Usman Ghani and three real sisters Sadia, Shaiza and Alisha. According to rescue sources, the drowning victims are said to be from Mahmoodabad, Karachi, who had come to the lake for a picnic.
Rescue teams say a boat full of tourists capsized in Lake Keenjhar due to strong winds, and the boat’s timber became old and overcrowded, killing nine people, including four women. Meanwhile, three women Maheen, Rashidan and Rubina have been rescued and shifted to Civil Hospital Mukli, where their condition is said to be critical. The search for more drownings continues.
