Operating System – Overview

An operating system (OS) is a collection of software that accomplishes computer hardware possessions and delivers collective facilities for computer programs. It is a dynamic module of the system software in a computer system.  It is system software that acts as an interface between user and the computer. It’s just like a soul of computer. it is a collection of program that supervises and control over all function of computer. It manages memory and processes as well as all of its software and hardware. It create link between users and computer. Without an operating system computer is useless.

Operating System is such a software which helps or do all the multiple jobs e.g. file management, memory management, process management, handling input and output, and monitoring peripheral devices such as disk drives and printers.
