The significance of Ramadan
Ramadan is an important month for spiritual growth and devotion/worship. During this month, Muslims are required to fast from sunrise to sunset – a practice called Sawm – which includes abstaining from food, drink, and smoking. Sawm is one of the Five Pillars of Islam and serves to strengthen our relationship with Allah and to remind us of the hardships faced by our fellow human beings.
