Students get ready to go to school:
The School Education Department has allowed new admissions of children in government schools across Punjab.
After getting permission, children will be admitted in primary, elementary and high schools for the next session. According to the school education department, children in Class One to eight have already been promoted to the next level without examination. The distribution of books to children and admission process will be completed by July 15.
Corona SOPs should be taken care of for admissions. School Education has directed the schools to send the demand for books for new admissions by July 16. On the other hand, the plan to build 100 Insaf schools at a cost of Rs. 21 crore in Lahore district stalled. Insaf schools were to be set up with rented buildings. Despite the selection of 80% of the buildings by the Deputy CEOs, they have not yet been made functional.
The Excise Department could not be visited for approval of the buildings. The educational activities in the said Insaf schools were to be started from the new academic year. Millions of rupees were transferred to the accounts of Deputy DEOs for renting buildings for Insaf schools.
Deputy DEOs had objected to spending more than Rs 2 million. District Education Authority Lahore says that the tender for justice schools will be re-opened as soon as the schools reopen. He says Insaaf has been delayed due to the corona virus.
