Karachi: The Sindh High Court has declared the Sugar Inquiry Commission and its report null and void.
The Sindh High Court in its summary judgment quashed the Sugar Inquiry Commission and its report and directed the NAB, FIA, FBR and other concerned agencies to conduct an independent and lawful inquiry into the sugar shortage. ۔
The court decision further said that the Sugar Inquiry Commission had pronounced its verdict without hearing all the petitioners. The Commission’s report contradicts Articles 4, 10 (A) and 25 of the Constitution. Therefore, the concerned agencies should not act in the light of the recommendations and suggestions of the Commission of Inquiry Report.
It may be recalled that more than 20 sugar mill owners had challenged the report of the Sugar Inquiry Commission formed on the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan in the Sindh High Court. Besides, the petition of sugar mill owners is also being heard in the Islamabad High Court.
