The situation in Occupied Kashmir is a never ending tragedy, says former Indian Finance Minister

New Delhi: Former Indian Finance Minister and key Congress leader Chidambaram in his column termed the current situation in Occupied Kashmir as a never ending tragedy and said that freedom of expression of Kashmiris has been curtailed and the entire valley has been affected. In a tweet on social networking site Twitter, former Indian Finance Minister Chidambaram titled his column “The Endless Story of Tragedy” and has been occupying it since the end of Kashmiris’ special status on August 5 last year. He also recorded the number of martyrs, wounded and illegally arrested by the Indian Army.

In his column, the former finance minister wrote that India has never faced a lockdown like the one in occupied Kashmir where the people have been deprived of their right to freedom of expression and the people have also been deprived of newspapers, television, mobile phones and telephones. The Internet, hospitals, police stations, courts and elected representatives are not being given access.
