A bogus announcement stating Thursday, May 25, 2023, would be commemorated as Pakistan Martyrs Day has been going around on social media, although the Federal Government has not declared it a public holiday.

“On the occasion of Pakistan Martyrs Day, the Prime Minister is pleased to declare May 25, 2023 (Thursday) as a public holiday.” the phoney notice said.

There is no public holiday on Thursday, May 25, 2023, according to information minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, who also acknowledged that the phoney announcement circulating on social media is false.

“Disseminating #FakeNews is not only immoral and against the law, but it also does the country a harm. Everyone has a responsibility to disapprove of reckless behaviour. On Twitter, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting urged people to reject “fake news.”
