Pakistan’s First Lunar Eclipse of 2023:

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the first lunar eclipse of 2023 will occur on May 5. From various locations in Pakistan, including Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, and Gilgit, the eclipse will be visible.

What is a Lunar Eclipse?

When the Earth moves in front of the sun and the moon, blocking the sun’s light and casting a shadow on the moon, this is known as a lunar eclipse. This phenomena, which is seen from several locations throughout the world, only happens during a full moon.

Details of the Lunar Eclipse:

On May 5, at 08:14PM Pakistan Standard Time (PST), the lunar eclipse will start, and it will last till 10:22PM PST. The eclipse will last for three hours and eight minutes in total. Between 9:16 PM PST and 9:30 PM PST, there will be a 14-minute total eclipse phase.

How to Observe the Lunar Eclipse:

One can use binoculars or telescopes to see the lunar eclipse. The phenomena may also be seen with the unaided eye. Although it is advised to wear eye protection when viewing the eclipse.
