YouTube will no longer send email notices to subscribers

SAN FRANCISCO: You may have noticed that when you subscribe to a channel on YouTube or respond to a comment on a video, it is reflected in your email inbox. But these notices will no longer be received by email after August 13.

According to YouTube, only 0.1 people read an email notice of a channel’s new video, an announcement, or a response. YouTube says that now if you want to receive email notifications of new uploads, live streams and video premieres, you have to choose this option at the time of subscription.

YouTube says the changes will not affect its app or website. YouTube has experimented with this, and when many users stopped sending email notices, they started coming to YouTube for frequent updates.
