Salary and Perks (MP-III): Official Figures

These numbers come from the official TOR PDF on the Pakistan Railways careers page, not from the newspaper (the newspaper ad only says pay packages are on the website). Both posts share the same package:

ItemOfficial figure
Scale of payRs 184,230 – 26,320 – 263,190
House rentUp to a rental ceiling of Rs 47,850 per month

TA/DADomestic tours as for BPS-20 civil servants; official duty abroad as for Category-II civil servants
MedicalReimbursement of medical and hospital charges for self, spouse and children at government or government-recognised institutions in Pakistan
Leave3 days’ full-pay leave per month, to be used within the year (not carried over, not encashed)
GratuityOne month’s basic pay for each completed year of service

We have not added these up into one “monthly salary” figure, because the TOR does not state a total and the starting point inside the scale is not stated.

Contract Terms and Selection

  • Contract for 3 years, extendable for a maximum of 2 more years, year by year, subject to satisfactory performance.
  • Ends on completion of tenure or one month’s notice from either side (the one-month notice need not apply in disciplinary cases under the MP Scales Policy 2020).
  • Recruitment is under the MP Scales Policy 2020 of the Establishment Division (O.M. dated 24-05-2021 and 23-05-2024) and the Finance Division O.M. dated 31-10-2023.
  • Short-listing uses a points sheet: education (PhD / Master’s, local or foreign), experience (above or below 10 years, public or private), plus extra marks for the PMP certificate and recent IT project experience (project manager) or network-monitoring and system-integration experience (deputy director).
  • Only short-listed candidates are called for interview; the Ministry may cancel the recruitment at any stage.

How to Apply on the National Jobs Portal (NJP)

Important: applications by post, email or any channel other than NJP are not considered, and incomplete or late applications are rejected. Nobody should ask you for money to “arrange” a government post.

Ad vs Official PDF: What Differs

  • Last date: the newspaper says “within 15 days of publication” (about 11 November); the careers page says 10 November 2026. Treat 10 November as the deadline.
  • Project Manager experience: the newspaper asks for program / project management experience; the TOR PDF asks for software development and programming experience. Read the TOR for your case.
  • Subjects: the newspaper lists Computer Science / Engineering / Data Sciences / IT; the TOR for the Project Manager lists “Program Management, Project Management or other relevant subject”.

What Is Not Confirmed

  • The exact NJP posting dates and any NJP-specific form fields (the two posts were not on the live list when checked).
  • Whether PMP or government experience gives extra short-listing marks beyond the sheet printed in the TOR.
  • The interview date and venue (only short-listed candidates are told).

Karna / Nahi Karna

Karna:

  • Read the TOR PDF and match your degree and years of experience before applying.
  • Apply only through njp.gov.pk and keep a screenshot of your submission.
  • Apply before 10 November, not on the last evening.
  • Prepare PMP / cloud / network project evidence; it counts in short-listing.

Nahi karna:

  • Do not apply by email, post or WhatsApp: only NJP applications count.
  • Do not pay anyone for a “guaranteed” railway post.
  • Do not rely on the newspaper alone; check the official TOR.
