Stenographer is a skills post. You need the shorthand and typing certificate and the speed (120 / 35 words per minute). Expect a skill / dictation check at interview stage, and practise before you apply. The ad itself does not describe the test.
Who Can Apply: Domicile, Age and Quotas
- Domicile: only candidates from the ten districts listed: Sukkur, Khairpur, Naushahro Feroze, Shaheed Benazirabad (Nawabshah), Sanghar, Matiari, Hyderabad, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan and Badin. A domicile from Karachi, Larkana, Dadu, Jacobabad etc. is not listed.

The STS Test: The Most Important Condition
The ad says you must have passed the general screening test of the Graduation category with at least 40% marks, conducted by IBA Sukkur Testing Services (STS), and hold its certificate. This is not an extra test for this job: it is a screening test you must already have passed.
- The portal’s own registration page says to enter the CNIC and mobile number you provided to STS (Grade 5 to 15 tests). Its FAQ says only passed STS candidates can register.
- So if you never sat the Graduation-category screening test, or scored under 40%, you cannot apply to this ad.
- If you passed, make sure your STS certificate is still valid. STS publishes validity and new-test notices on its announcements page: iba-suk.edu.pk/sts/announcements. Last Date: What We Know and What We Do Not
The ad does not print a calendar date. It says applications must be submitted within 15 days of publication. The ad appeared in Dawn on 27 October 2026, so the count points to about 11 November 2026. This is our estimate. On 27 October the Sindh Job Portal’s public job list did not yet show this vacancy (it listed two other Junior Clerk jobs closing on 30 and 31 October), so the exact closing date will appear on the portal once it is posted.
Do not wait for the last day. The portal can be slow near closing time. Apply as soon as the job appears, and treat 9 or 10 November as your own deadline to be safe.

- Eligible / shortlisted candidates only are called, in front of the Departmental Selection Committee, with original documents, on the date uploaded on the portal.
- Serving employees must carry the original NOC.
- No TA/DA is paid for the interview.
- The ad does not mention a separate written test at the department, so the STS score is the screening step. For Stenographer, expect shorthand / typing speed to be checked.
What the Ad Does Not Tell You
- The exact last date. Only “within 15 days of publication”.
- Salary. The ad gives only the BPS grade (BPS-11 and BPS-14). We do not quote a figure because the ad does not.
- Quota percentages and how marks are weighted (STS score vs interview).
- Whether the posts are permanent or contract. The ad lists BPS grades but does not print the word “regular”.
