Qualification and skills required
The advertisement lists four requirements. You need all four:
- Graduation: a degree with at least 2nd division from a university or institute recognised by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), or equivalent.
- Shorthand and typing certificate: a certificate in English shorthand and typing from SBTE or STEVTA, or from an institute recognised by the Sindh Board of Technical Education.
- Speed: English shorthand at 120 words per minute and English typing at 35 words per minute.
- MS Office: a certificate in MS Office from a recognised institute.
Note: some job sites repeat the old rule “Intermediate”; this ad asks for graduation, and the STS test is the Graduation category.
STS test: the part many candidates miss
Point 2 of the ad says applicants must already have passed the general screening test of the Graduation category, conducted by Sukkur IBA Testing Services (STS), with at least 40% marks, and must hold the STS certificate. If you have not passed it yet, you cannot apply for this post. The portal’s own job cards show the same rule (for example, “Minimum STS Score: 40” and “STS Category: Graduation”).
Age limit and relaxation
- Age limit: 18 to 28 years.
- Your age is counted from the date you submit your application, under rule 7 of the Sindh Civil Servants (Relaxation of Upper Age Limit) Rules, 2024.
- An extra 5 years of upper age relaxation is allowed, as clarified in the SGA&CD notification No. SOII(SGA&CD)564/2011 (Part-II) dated 6 March 2025. That means the upper limit can go up to 33 years in practice.
- Posts are filled according to the quotas (women, minorities, persons with disabilities) set by the Sindh Government.
Who can apply: the 8 domicile districts
The advertisement invites applications from candidates who hold a domicile of: Naushahro Feroze, Shaheed Benazirabad (Nawabshah), Sanghar, Matiari, Hyderabad, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan and Badin. The post itself sits at Rohri Canal Circle, Hyderabad. A domicile of Sukkur or Khairpur does not fit this ad (an earlier Sukkur Barrage Left Bank ad in February 2026 was for those two districts).
How to apply on the Sindh Job Portal (checked 27 October 2026)
Applications are accepted only through the portal. Posting, e-mailing or hand-delivering papers does not count.
Step 1: Open the official portal
Go to sjp.gos.pk. It is the Government of Sindh’s job portal, built by Sukkur IBA University with the Science & IT Department. The helplines shown on the site are 071-5644068 and 071-5644214, and the support e-mail is support@sjp.gos.pk.
Step 2: Register with the same CNIC and mobile number you gave STS
The Register page says clearly: “Please enter the CNIC number and mobile number you provided to STS during the Grade 5 to 15.” So your account is tied to your STS record. If you use a different mobile number, registration may fail; the portal has a “Forgot Mobile Number?” link for that case. We did not enter any personal data while checking this page.
Step 3: Complete your profile
The official FAQ says to make sure your profile is complete before you apply. Keep scans of your degree, shorthand and typing certificates, MS Office certificate, domicile, CNIC and STS result ready.
Step 4: Find the job and press Apply
Open All Jobs, choose the post that matches your qualifications, and click Apply. The FAQ describes the same path: go to Available Jobs, pick a job, click Apply.
Is this post on the portal yet?
When we checked on the afternoon of 27 October 2026, the All Jobs list showed only two other jobs (both Junior Clerk, BPS-11, with last dates of 30 and 31 October). The Sukkur Barrage Stenographer post was not listed yet. The listing may be added after the ad is printed, so check the portal again every day, and do not wait for the last day.
Each card on the portal shows BPS, last date, vacancies, age limit, minimum STS score and qualification. Once this post appears, its exact last date will be printed on its card.
After you apply: interview and conditions
- Interview: you will appear before the Departmental Selection Committee with original documents, as per the schedule uploaded on the job portal.
- Only eligible or shortlisted candidates will be called for the interview.
- Already in government service? Get a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your department before you submit your application, and bring the original NOC to the interview.
- No TA/DA is paid for the interview.
Do and don’t
- Check your STS result card first: Graduation category, 40% or more.
- Check that your domicile is in one of the 8 districts.
- Register with the same CNIC and mobile number you gave STS.
- Keep every certificate (shorthand 120, typing 35, MS Office) ready as a clear scan.
- Apply early, within the first week, and save your confirmation.
- Don’t apply if you only have Intermediate or have not passed the STS Graduation test.
- Don’t pay anyone “for a job”: the application is free on the portal and no ad asks for money.
- Don’t use agents or WhatsApp links; the only apply link in the ad is sjp.gos.pk.
- Don’t leave the NOC for the interview day if you are a government employee; it is needed before applying.
- Don’t rely on an old ad: this one is for 8 districts, not Sukkur/Khairpur.
