What Is the She Threads Program?
She Threads is a Punjab government scheme that trains women from rural and less-developed areas for jobs in the textile and garment industry. The Women Development Department sponsors it and the Punjab Skills Development Fund executes it with partner factories. The department says the aim is to turn 2,500 marginalised rural women into a skilled, formal workforce.
Training happens inside working factories, so trainees learn on real machines. After training the department promises placement with partner textile industries, or support to start self-employment. (The word “guaranteed” appears on the department page, but no written job guarantee or contract terms are published, so treat placement as help, not a promise.)
Stipend and Benefits
- Rs 15,000 per month paid directly during training (official page).
- Free specialised training in high-demand textile trades, and free training materials.
- Foundation skills: workplace communication, teamwork and digital financial literacy.
- Transport support: reported by news outlets; the amount and rules are not published.
- Job placement in partner textile industries, or help starting self-employment.
Check this: the department page lists a 3-month training programme in the benefits section but shows “24 months” in its statistics box. The October 2026 report and the department benefits text both say three months, so we use three months, but confirm the schedule at your centre.
Eligibility: Who Can Apply
| Condition | What is published |
| Gender | Women |
| Age | 18 to 45 years (official She Threads page). One October report mentions only “at least 18”; the official 18–45 range is the safer one. |
| Area | Rural or less-developed areas of Punjab. The department page says the programme runs in five districts: Sialkot, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Lahore and Multan. |
| Education | Earlier announcements and June 2026 reports: at least Middle pass. The department page does not state an education limit, and the October reports do not repeat it. Confirm with the centre. |
| Other | Seeking employment or self-employment. Reported: you must not have been associated with the factory where you apply. |

Training Centres Open for Registration (28 October 2026)
| Centre | Address (as reported) | Trade / course |
| Masood Textile Mills, Faisalabad | 32 KM, Sheikhupura–Faisalabad Road | Industrial Stitching Machine Operator |
| Shahkam Industries (Pvt.) Ltd, Lahore | 1 KM Defence Road, 23 KM off Multan Road, Lahore | Apparel Supervisor (earlier notices also listed Industrial Stitching Machine Operator) |
Both centres come from the 28 October 2026 reports; the department site does not list centre addresses or intake dates. Earlier reports (June 2026) said courses also run in Sialkot and Sheikhupura, and the official page also names Multan, but no open registration was reported for those cities. If you live there, call 1043 or ask the department before travelling.
How to Apply: Step by Step
Pick the nearest of the two centres above and the trade (Stitching Machine Operator in Faisalabad, Apparel Supervisor in Lahore).
Age 18–45, rural or less-developed area, never associated with that factory, and (as reported) Middle pass. Ask the registration desk to confirm.
Original CNIC and domicile certificate. Bring photocopies and a passport photo as well in case they are asked for (not confirmed as required).
Go in person, meet the authorised staff and say you want to register for the She Threads Program. Do not give your documents to anybody outside the centre.
Confirm the batch start date, timings, whether seats remain, how the Rs 15,000 stipend and transport support are paid, and who to call later.
Ask for a receipt, form copy or roll number, and write down the name and number of the person who registered you.
Registration is described as on-site in the news reports; no online form or portal exists on the department page. Steps 1 to 6 are written from those reports, so details at the desk may differ.

Documents to Carry
- Original CNIC (reported as required)
- Domicile certificate (reported as required)
- Extra: CNIC photocopy, Middle/Matric result card, passport photo (not confirmed as required, but useful)
Trades and Courses
The department page says 10 key trades are offered but does not list them. News reports (June 2026) name these:
- Industrial stitching machine operator
- Fabric quality inspection and quality control
- Fabric cutting, pattern making and cutting
- Apparel planning and merchandising
- Apparel supervision
- Garment finishing
Only Industrial Stitching Machine Operator and Apparel Supervisor were reported open for registration on 28 October 2026.
Numbers and Results So Far
| Item | Figure | Source |
| Programme target | 2,500 women trained by June 2027 | Official page / October report |
| Budget | Rs 310 million (June 2026 report) | Profit, ProPakistani, June 2026 |
| Completed FY 2025-26 | 1,150 women | ProPakistani, 28 Oct 2026 |
| Women who got jobs | 773 (June 2026 officials’ figure) | Profit, June 2026 |
| Next phase planned | 1,350 more participants | Profit, June 2026 |
Honest reading: June 2026 reports said about 2,500 women had completed courses in two years, and 773 had jobs. That means roughly one in three had a job when reported. Placement is real but not automatic, so ask the centre how many of the last batch were placed.
