Quick answer: Monday, 9 November 2026 is a public holiday for Allama Iqbal Day. It is in the Cabinet Division’s 2026 holiday schedule, issued on 19 January 2026. Sindh has been reported to have closed public and private schools and colleges on that day. Institutions with a Saturday-Sunday weekend therefore get a three-day break from 7 to 9 November, and classes resume on Tuesday, 10 November 2026.

Honest note: on 4 November 2026 we could read the Cabinet Division circular, the PSX calendar and the Punjab schools calendar, which all show 9 November. We could not open the Sindh school notification itself (the Sindh holiday page was last updated for 26 August), nor the Punjab 30 October notice. Those two are labelled “reported” below. Always check your own school, college or office circular too.

Sindh Schools and Colleges: 9 November Holiday

Sindh announced a one-day closure of public and private educational institutions on Monday, 9 November 2026 for Iqbal Day, on top of the federal holiday. Press reports say the notification came from the Sindh education department and that normal classes resume on Tuesday, 10 November 2026. Reports differ on whether it was issued by the School Education & Literacy Department or the College Education Department, so we do not name one.

What we checked on 4 November 2026: the Sindh Services, General Administration & Coordination Department holiday page still ended at the 26 August 2026 entry, and the Sindh School Education & Literacy Department website showed no 9 November notice yet. Notifications usually reach schools as a circular first. Check your school’s WhatsApp group or notice board.

Optional holidays are granted at the discretion of the head of the organization and are not a general day off. Moon-based holidays (Eid, Ashura, Eid Milad) are already behind us for this year.
